NSW Legal Briefing

Register below to receive the zoom link for an online legal briefing brought to you by #StopArmingGenocide.

Please note that this briefing will be speaking to NSW Law. If you are choosing to attend from another jurisdiction, please be aware that there are minor differences from state to state. Much of the information in this briefing will still be relevant and useful to you, but you should check before relying on this information outside NSW.

This 2 hour briefing will cover:

  • Your rights at a protest
  • Police powers and the circumstances in which they can lawfully exercise them
  • What happens after a person is arrested at a protest (i.e. watchouse, bail, court process)
  • How we can organise to keep each other safe

IMPORTANT: This briefing will contain legal information, but it is not legal advice. Only a practicing lawyer can give legal advice, but anyone can and should share accurate information about our legal rights to assist others in the movement to make informed choices about how and when they choose to resist. The presenter of this briefing is not a lawyer, just an activist who believes that knowledge is power.
